I knew it would come to this.. by toeknuckles I knew it would come to this.. by toeknuckles
Rat was so beautiful that it drove Crow, the jealous lover, out of his mind.
Eventually he was driven so insane by the whole world looking at Rat that he imprisoned Rat in a bottle.
In the middle of nowhere.
A couple of times a year, he would fly to look admire how beautiful his rat in a bottle was, then fly away again, leaving Rat as a prisoner for all eternity.

Because of this creation I realized that "sadness" is the most beautiful creation I can project in this reality...

And for some reason DA won't put it in my favorites gallery. *kicks DA* >.<

But I'll keep trying...later, when DA is in a better mood, maybe...

Even without reading the story, that is a disturbingly morose and creepy image. Well done. The color choice is grim and dark without being all dark colors; in fact, the whiteness of the rat is even more desolate than the grays and blues around him. Great composition with the trail of feathers and the weight of the rat in the bottle against the tiny, disappearing crow. A rather permanence verses fleeting feeling. And the edge of realism against the surrealistic content just makes it that much more eye catching.

This reminds me of an artist I used to kinda-sorta-admire back at Elfwood, before I came here. I don't remember the name but she (I think it was a she) made these amazing, semi-surreal paintings with slightly distubing, morbid tones that mostly featured rats and mice.

Anyway, this just got me thinking of that person's art because the style is so very similar. Good work, over all.

This is so beautiful and heartwrenching. I never would have thought that a painting of a rat could evoke such emotions in me, but this really does.

Beautifully done. Glass is so hard to paint realistically (for me, anyway) and you have done an excellent job of it.

i actually started painting this when seth and i lost or beloved rat schnolgo...i needed to paint a rat, but i felt so, so sad. i think that's why i ended up with such a sad rat picture. i also thnk that's why rat is in a bottle - i wished i could preserve my rat forever, so schnolgo would be with us forever. but just that tiny bit out of reach...like the other side of some glass.
